The Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Meghalaya on May 21, 2026, issued the PHC+ (Primary Health Centre Plus) - A Cluster-Based Primary Healthcare Model.
The following has been stated:
• The Government has notified the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Plus – A Cluster-Based Primary Healthcare Model to strengthen and integrate primary healthcare services across the State. Under this model, selected PHCs will function as PHC Plus Centres, providing leadership and technical support to a cluster of nearby health facilities, including Sub-Centres and Health & Wellness Centres.
• The initiative aims to improve healthcare accessibility, service quality, referral linkages, disease surveillance, maternal and child health services, non-communicable disease management, emergency care, diagnostics, telemedicine, and digital health services.
• PHC Plus Centres will also coordinate capacity building of healthcare workers, monitor health programmes, ensure efficient resource utilization, and strengthen community participation.
• The model seeks to deliver comprehensive, patient-centric, and integrated primary healthcare services while improving health outcomes across Meghalaya.
